    WELCOME

Welcome to the Dot Com Incomer.

WOW!! I'm 2 weeks late coming back from the holiday break. A little late, but I hope you had a great holiday and that you will be even more prosperous in 2007 than you were in 2006.

I wanted to publish the Incomer on January 9 but as you probably guessed, that didn't happen. I sat down to start work on the first issue for 2007 on the 7th. Didn't even get started on it. I had a computer just up and die on me. In the process of trying to figure out what was wrong, I swapped a part out of that computer with my main computer (the one I use for business) and bam, the same thing happened to the second one too. Okay, that seems simple enough, right? Just replace that part with a new one and everything should be okay. NOT!!

I ended up buying a new computer to replace the first one that went. Never did find out what the real problem was. Ended up replacing the mother board on the second computer (actually fried the replacement and had to install a second board. All in all, I was down for over a week and a half.

Then I had to get caught up on almost 10,000 emails.

Well...enough about my troubles; I'm finally back to normal now and am pleased to be able to put this newsletter together for you.

Today, we'll talk about advertising; more specifically, writing your ads. The first article is: "10 Secrets and Tips for Writing Better Solo Ads (Part 1)". Our second article is even more specific and discusses the most important part of an ad in: "Headlines Are 90% Of The Success Of Your Ad".

I hope you enjoy todays issue.

Please pass this newsletter on to anyone who you feel might benefit from its content.

10 Secrets and Tips for Writing Better Solo Ads (Part 1)

    by: Duane Marx

Here are 10 secrets and tips for writing a better ‘Solo Advertisement'. This is part 1 of 3 articles that should be very helpful with improving all your advertising. This article is just the beginning. In parts 2 and 3 we'll get into more advanced secrets and tips. But to write great ads all of these tips need to be a part of your ad writing process.

    1) Have a great subject line Spend a lot of time writing your subject line. This is the most important part of your ad. It will determine whether or not your ad will be read. Don't make the subject too long. A power word, such as "free" or "save" may help. It has to interesting and believable with no hype. You will be competing with a lot of other subject lines in everyone's email boxes. It's got to be compelling enough to get people to click on it before they will ever see your advertisement.

    2) Have a profitable webpage Make sure your website is making sales before you start spending a lot on ezine ads, This is very important! In fact it would probably be very profitable to hire someone to improve your salespage/website before you send any serious traffic to it. You can write the best advertisement ever but you still won't make any money if your website doesn't convert visitors into paying customers.

    3) Target your ezine This is very important - Make sure the ezine you advertise in is targeted to what you're selling! If you're selling internet marketing products don't advertise in ezines about making toy trains. To search for your related ezines you can use: ‘The Directory of Ezines' at: http://www.directoryofezines.com It's a little expensive at $147 for lifetime or $67 annually. But you should never be afraid to invest in your business.

    4) Spam filter check Make sure you check all your ads against the spam filters! What if you created a killer ad with a great subject line and you spend $700 to send it out in this perfect ezine and the spam filters trashed it and no one ever got to see your ad? Can it happen? Yes all the time. You have to make sure not to use any words that will get picked up by the spam filters. Here's one you can use: http://www.ezinecheck.com/check.html

    5) Spelling check You'll want all your advertisements to look very professional without any misspelled words. So spell check your ads every time before you send them out.

    6) Format your ads Make sure your ad is formatted correctly. http://www.web-source.net/format_text.htm Lots of ads need to be formatted to 60 or 65 characters per line or else they may look very strange when they are published.

    7) Subscribe before you advertise If you subscribe to the ezine you can learn a lot more about it. And you'll also know for sure when your ad is sent out.

    8) Don't sell in your ad Remember your ad is to get people to visit your website not to sell. Your website will do the selling for you. So you'll want to write your ad to get as many people as possible to visit your website.

    9) Track all your ads Always track all your advertisements to find out how profitable they are. For example you may spend $100 and send your ad to 10 different ezines at $10 each and only make $90 in sales. If you don't track then you will be losing money. But if you track you may find out all your sales came from just 1 ezine and you are in fact making a good profit. Now you can concentrate on this one ezine and make more money.

    10) Test, test and test again Test different ads to find out which one works the best. Try writing 3 or 4 different ads and see which one gets the most clicks to your website, and the most sales. Then when you have a winning ad you can test it in different ezines. And when you have a winning ad in a winning ezine then all your hard work will have finally paid off.

If you follow this advice you will be well on your way to writing better ‘Solo Advertisements. You may want to make a copy of this article to use as a checklist when writing your ads. Remember to see more advanced secrets and tips be sure to read parts 2 and 3. They'll also give you a better understanding of how to create great advertisements.

Headlines Are 90% Of The Success Of Your Ad

    By Ross Reyman

Experts belive that the headline is 90-95% of the ad.

Several years ago, a small cosmetic company ran display ads in popular women magazines. They did not make money, but did develop quite a large prospect list. But they decided to employ an expert copywriter to see if they could improve the message. He changed six headlines in their ad. Much to their surprise the new ads did 18 times better than the first ones.

Would you like to have increased sales of 18 times in your sales? It is not easy. I have had ads increase with changes and sometimes they go down.

We all know the importance of a powerful headline. However, writing a great headline isn't as easy as it sounds. An effective headline will literally force your potential customers to learn more. It will instantly ignite a certain emotion and intrigue them to read on.

The first step is to ask what the customer needs and then meet there needs.

In order to write an effective headline, you must learn how to use specific words to achieve a specific reaction. Is the person's need that of personal success, or is it security, or is it socal such as love and affection?

You must feel their needs, wants and desires and write your headlines with passion and emotion.

When writing your headlines, keep in mind, you only have a few seconds to grab your potential customers' attention. If your headline doesn't immediately catch their attention, they'll simply move on and never return. Below are several different formulas used by professional copywriters to write compelling headlines. Reach out to force the customer to reach their needs and wants. One popular headline is "Are you tired of making money for your boss?" Headline that question have been succesful.

I feel that those headlines that are statements of facts are good such as "I made $12000 Per Month After Almost Losing my Shirt!" But you must have truthfulness in your headlines to be believable.

Secondly, use magic words. I consulted 4 lists that had words that are winners. The words discover, love, money, easy, free, love, proven, guaranteed is each list.

Third, be prepared to take a lot of time. I knew of one man who created a million dollar ad in about 25 minutes and this was a full page ad. But many change their headlines many times till they get it right. It is not easy. Test.
